Hey, gorgeous! If you’re a transgender woman or a crossdresser, you already know that pantyhose can be your ultimate secret weapon for creating smooth, stunning legs.
They’re the cherry on top of a fabulous outfit, adding elegance and that extra bit of feminine flair.
But let’s be real—wearing pantyhose isn’t just about slipping them on and heading out the door.
Nope, there’s a bit of an art to it! From picking the perfect pair to styling them just right, a few simple rules can take your look from “meh” to absolutely flawless.
Ready to level up your pantyhose game? Let’s dive into the 5 must-follow style rules that will have you slaying every step of the way.
A Quick Note on Pantyhose, Tights, and Stockings
Before we dive into the guidelines, let’s briefly define some terms:
Pantyhose – This is a term used in the U.S. for sheer hosiery with a denier (a measure of thickness in tights) of 8 to 30.
Tights – Tights are thicker than pantyhose, with a denier of 40 to 100. However, in most other English-speaking countries, the term “tights” encompasses all types of hosiery, from sheer to thick.
Stockings – Stockings are different from tights as they only cover the upper thighs and can be held up by elastic or a garter belt.
Rule 1: Only Wear Nude Or Black Pantyhose
For a chic and polished appearance, I suggest sticking to the classic options and wearing either nude or black pantyhose. (However, if you prefer colorful tights, see Rule #5.)
If you opt for black hose, ensure that they are a true jet black – not a dark grey or brown-black shade.
Rule 2: Go For Sheer Nude Hose That Matches Your Skin Tone
The most important rule when it comes to nude pantyhose is to find a shade that closely matches your skin tone. Luxury brands such as Donna Karan and Calvin Klein offer a wide range of nude shades, making it easier to find the perfect match.
The second rule for nude pantyhose is to opt for the sheerest option available. Just like foundation on your face, nude hosiery should be invisible but enhance your overall look.
Rule 3: Buy The Best Quality Pantyhose You Can Afford
Many transgender women, crossdressers, and femboys have gorgeous legs, so it’s worth highlighting them with a good pair of pantyhose.
There is a noticeable difference between brands found at drugstores and those at department stores.
Some of my favorite high-end hosiery brands include
- Wolford
- Spanx
- Donna Karan
- Calvin Klein
- Nordstrom
Rule 4: Coordinate Your Pantyhose With Your Shoes
Black pantyhose should be worn with black shoes for a streamlined appearance.
If you opt for nude hose, you have more flexibility with the color of your shoes as they can be paired with any shade. For an elongating effect, stick to nude hose and matching nude shoes.
Keep in mind that sandals or open-toed shoes should never be worn with pantyhose (with the exception of a small peep toe).
Rule 5: Try Tights
Instead of traditional transgender/crossdresser pantyhose, you can try semi-sheer or opaque tights – especially during colder weather.
Tights have a more modern and youthful look compared to pantyhose, though they are less formal. Unlike pantyhose, there are no specific rules for wearing tights, so feel free to experiment with different colors, styles, and textures.
Don’t be afraid to add a touch of fun and personality to your outfit with funky tights!
